For the last 11 years Echo Medical Systems, Houston, Texas, markets NMR-MRI- and CT-based equipment for tissue characterization in-vivo and ex-vivo, measuring fat, lean, and bone mineral. This medical diagnostic equipment is used for body composition analysis in mice, rats, other animals, and humans during preclinical and clinical research in fields of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. Mechanical Engineer

Description:The principal responsibility of this position is to support both scientific development and systems manufacturing. Duties include design and implementation of our MRI-based Body Composition Analysis equipment, assistance to mechanical assemblers, maintenance of product quality, process capabilities, and cost improvements. The job also requires (1) use Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop process improvements and assure optimal use of manufacturing resources, (2) work with suppliers to assure quality, (3) work with equipment vendors to find most efficient use of capital, (4) implement process controls to assure quality, and (5) troubleshoot process and quality issues, using statistical analysis and manufacturing engineering techniques. Additionally, since Echo Medical Systems is a world leader in Body Composition Analysis equipment and solutions, occasional national and international trips for system installations, field repairs and upgrades will be required.

Qualifications:

  • BSME or equivalent with 3-5 yrs exp. in R&D and engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on ability / mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with engineering CAD packages, AutoCAD required, Solid Works a plus
  • Ability to develop mechanical hardware with little supervision
  • Ability to run multiple tasks while maintaining project schedules
  • Willingness to visit venders and customer on occasion
  • Ability to oversee outsourced mechanical design and development projects
  • Ability to oversee the duties of electro-mechanical assembly technicians
  • Ability to develop packaging for electronic and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Understanding of US FDA GMP/QSIT a plus

Salary is $45-$65K, depending on experience.

Electronics Engineer

Description:The principal responsibility of this position is to expand our current product line of MRI-based body composition analyzing equipment. You will support R&D development, manufacturing and field service activities. Additionally, since Echo Medical Systems is a world leader in Body Composition Analysis equipment and solutions, occasional national and international trips for system installations, field repairs and upgrades will be required.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or equivalent with 3-5 yrs exp. in R&D and engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of UL safety requirements for laboratory equipment is a plus
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for schematic capture, OrCAD / Allegro is a plus
  • Familiarity with C++, .net ext programming is a plus
  • Ability to oversee outsourced electronics design and development projects
  • Ability to oversee electronic assembly technicians
  • Ability to develop electronic hardware with minimal supervision
  • Ability to run multiple tasks while maintaining project schedules
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Understanding of US FDA GMP/QSIT is a plus

Salary is $45-$65K, depending on experience.

Electronic Technician - Manufacturing

Description:The principal responsibility of this position is to participate in the MFG and installations of our NMR systems. Duties include electronic board-level test and repair, electro-mechanical assembly, and system installation. This job will also involve providing assistance to our R&D team during the prototype phase of new products. Additionally, since Echo Medical Systems is a world leader in Body Composition Analysis equipment and solutions, occasional national and international trips for system installations, field repairs and upgrades will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in electronics
  • 2 to 5 years experience in a fast paced MFG plant, repairing electrical & electronic circuits
  • 2 to 5 years experience troubleshooting DSP control circuits and analog signal processing circuits
  • Solid ability to read and understand electronic schematic drawings
  • Hands-on ability / mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with engineering CAD packages (schematic capture), OrCAD is a plus
  • Understanding of common ESD precautions
  • Understanding of common soldering processes, including SMT rework
  • Ability to work on projects with little supervision
  • Familiarity with ISO quality control is a plus

Salary is $30-$45K, depending on experience.
